💤 Safe Sleep for Babies
Every baby deserves a safe place to sleep.
As Shiawassee Counties first Safe Sleep Certified provider, S.S.E.S.A. is committed to protecting our community’s youngest and most vulnerable members. Safe sleep education helps reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), suffocation, and sleep-related infant injuries.
🚗 Car Seat Inspections
Because every ride should be a safe one.
The Fire Department offers free car seat inspections to help parents and caregivers ensure their child’s safety on the road. Our certified technicians will check that your car seat is properly installed, fits your child correctly, and meets current safety guidelines.
🩺 First Aid, CPR & AED Classes
Because the community is safer, when we all work together.
S.S.E.S.A. offers First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training to empower residents with the skills to respond confidently during a medical emergency. Contact us to schedule a class.

S.S.E.S.A. is proud to offer a Smoke Alarm Installation Program for residents in our community. Our goal is to ensure every home has working smoke alarms to provide early warning in the event of a fire.

Teaching students how to stay safe, think fast, and make smart choices in emergencies.
Our fire safety presentations are designed to educate and empower students from preschool through high school with the knowledge and tools they need to prevent fires and respond appropriately in emergencies. Firefighters visit schools to deliver fun, interactive, and age-appropriate lessons.

The purpose of the Fire/EMS Department Cadet Program is to inspire, educate, and prepare the next generation of emergency service professionals through hands-on training, mentorship, and community engagement. The program is designed to instill discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of civic responsibility in cadets while providing foundational knowledge and practical experience in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and public safety operations. Through this program, we aim to develop skilled, confident, and service-oriented individuals ready to pursue careers in Fire/EMS and contribute meaningfully to the safety and well-being of their communities.
